Tarapacá Winery – Ex Zavala

During the XIX Century, in 1874, Tarapacá Winery Ex-Zavala was created. By that time it was known as "VIÑA DE ROJAS" due to its founder, Francisco de Rojas y Salamanca, a well-known businessman of that time. Using fine varieties imported from France he established the winery at the foot of the Andes Mountain Range, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot , Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillón Blanc. In 1992 he bought a property in MAIPO VALLEY, named "El Rosario de Naltagua", (Naltagua rosary) that is 2,600 hectares, including 600 hectares watered by Maipo River; in this way he achieved one of the main goals of the project, to offer growing volumes of fine wines of their own production. Nowadays, apart from being one of the most important wines of the Chilean market, Tarapacá Winery ex Zavala is one of the most important exporters of Chile, increasing 50% annually, since 1994, and reaching more than 50 countries. The house, where the traditional architecture is combined with a contemporary decoration, has 19 cozy rooms, a 10 hectare yard surrounding the house, swimming-pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, tennis courts, play-room, golf course, and fully equipped conference rooms.

NERUDA’s HOUSE in ISLA NEGRA

Margarita Aguirre wrote in her book:

"Neruda bought the house of Isla Negra to a Spaniard retired captain of a ship who was building it to live with his family. As the house was not finished yet, the poet could finish it the way he wanted; he built a big window that amazes architects; from that window the beach, the waves, the vast sky, and a long part of the coast up to San Antonio Port can be admired”.
