La Rioja is one of the provinces with more history of Argentina. Apart from its popular Ruta de los Caudillos (Leaders’ Route), it has a Natural Heritage of Humanity: The Archeological Reserve of National Park Talampaya, with an area of 270 thousand hectares and 150 meter-high walls. Here elements such as mommies, clay materials of domestic use, and a great number of fossils have been found.
We can also mention the Anchunvil Canyon, with its passageways and walls full of petrography and pictography; Toro Hill, where there are traces of native people that lived in the area; El Rincon Underground Galleries; and the Corona del Inca Crater, at the foot of Pissis Volcano. The city of Chilecito is another attraction; it is an economic center, with vast areas of vineyards, wineries, and agricultural areas.
